| Chains and Things |
Here you will find necklaces that have chains as a part of the design. All the chains are 14 CT Gold Filled, Sterling Silver or Argentium Sterling Silver. Some of the designs may have part of the necklace strung on special wire and then attached to chain, some may have sections of stones on Sterling Silver or 14 CT Gold Filled wire then attached to chain, or some may be wrapped onto the chain. Most of the chains used by "famous" designers today, are Gold Plated, because it is less expensive. I use only 14 CT Gold Filled, which, with proper care, can last as long if not longer than 14 CT Gold. The price of Precious Metals is constantly going up, so in some respects, Copper is now the new Silver. I have been using Copper for several years because I like the way it brings out certain colors in the gem stones. In case you are wondering what the difference is, Argentium Sterling Silver contains a small amount of an alloy that prevents fire-scale during soldering, so the Silver stays shiny. After wearing regular Sterling (92.5) Silver, use a damp towel to wipe or rinse to remove any body oils, etc, and put it in a zip lock bag to keep it clean. With Argentium Sterling Silver, you can use the same process, but storing in a box will be fine.
